We boast one of North Carolina’s only wood stripping rooms equipped with a safe and efficient flammable base stripper, ensuring a fast turnaround for your furniture’s transformation. Plus, we have a large showroom showcasing completed projects and unique pieces available for purchase. Through three crafted steps, we restore pieces to like-new conditions:
The Pender’s Stripping Advantage
Removing old finishes is the essential first step to furniture restoration. Here at Pender’s, we address a common concern – vat stripping, also known as dipping. Contrary to misconceptions, vat stripping, when done properly, doesn’t harm furniture. We use a safe and faster-acting flammable base stripper compared to the harsher methylene chloride used in overflow systems.
We select the ideal stripping method, hand or vat, for each piece. During vat stripping, furniture takes a quick dip, followed by a thorough scrub and drying. This minimizes chemical exposure compared to overflow methods. Additionally, our stripping room is fully equipped with explosion-proof features and a fresh air ventilation system for maximum safety.

The magic happens here! Our sanding and repairing room is where cherished pieces are brought back to life. Skilled artisans meticulously sand each piece, revealing its original glory. We expertly repair broken components, from wobbly armchairs to missing decorative molding. No detail is overlooked – even the nooks and crannies of armoires are meticulously sanded. Floor protectors are securely attached to side tables, ensuring your furniture is ready to grace your home once more.
